Rent-a-Program...for SCIENCE!

By now most of you know that I don't work a formal "program."

My recovery is simply practicing healthier relationships with everything: family, friends, nature, food, self.  Took a long time to learn that that's what worked best for me.  And I'll be honest, I was missing the "sober fellowship" aspect of what many 12-step programs are known for; which is why I started The Sobriety Collective, for people who celebrate recovery in all its forms.

And shoot, so I could make some new friends ;)  #RecoveryPosse love.

So, in honor of my upcoming 8th sober birthday (July 14, wink wink nudge nudge), I'm going to play a game called Rent-a-Program.  Each week, I'll go to one meeting from a different program--and I'll blog about my experiences afterward.  Of course, I won't share personal details that others share in meetings. I've learned to respect the whole mantra of "What you see here, what you hear here, let it stay here, when you leave here.  Hear Hear."

But after many years not practicing a program, I'm kind of a #noob.

I'm going to try AA (again), SMART Recovery, and the last two are up to you (provided they have the option in the DC area).  What should my last two programs/meetings be?

This is my gift to myself: to remain teachable, even as I make my way closer and closer to a decade in long-term recovery.
